Ok, Guys, here is another poem

21. The Lord Laughs

The Lord looked on as the world was formed,
And clapped His hands with glee;
It brings a smile of pride to His face,
When He looks at you and me.

And when His children gather in joy,
To praise His Holy Name;
The Lord our God, He laughs out loud,
As His children do the same.

He’s not a staid and surly God,
Who rules with an iron bar;
And you can be sure, where there’s honest joy,
His Spirit is not afar.

He loves us to laugh, and it does us good,
He says in His Holy Word;
His Spirit brings joy, along with His love,
Wherever His Word is heard.

The world looks on, in its own sad way,
And it thinks that we are bound;
It cannot see, in this yoke of love,
Our freedom we truly have found.

It’s not by the ‘no’s’ of God we are held,
But His ‘yes’s’ that set us free;
When we show out the laughter His Spirit brings,
We can help the world to see.

Our God is not sad, and solemn, and sour,
Intent upon banning fun;
When we place our lives into His hands,
Our ‘joy trip’ has only begun.

There’s freedom and safety in being held,
In the hands of a loving Lord;
There are treasures of joy, of peace and of love,
That the world could never afford.

For when the Lord laughs, it’s never at pain,
At sickness, or sadness, or fear;
But a smile and a laugh is brought to His face,
When a hurting soul dares to draw near.

And He laughs with joy, at a kindness done,
At a gift given out in His Name;
It gives Him great pleasure when healing is sought,
Or His people, His promises claim.

One of the fruits of His Spirit is joy,
A fruit from the Living Vine,
You can hear Him declare, when His people laugh out,
“These branches, they surely are Mine.”

So don’t stifle laughter, nor yet take offence,
When others their laughter won’t still;
For there is no merit in ‘holy disdain’,
That the spirit of laughter would kill.

“Fear not”, sang the angels, bringing tidings of joy,
“Lift your praise to the Father on high.
The Spirit of love and of joy has come down,
And the day of Salvation is nigh.”

Let laughter ring out, and with it your praise,
Let the Lord be the source of your fun;
For He breathed out laughter with His very breath,
Right back, when the world was begun.

What a sweet reminder.

Laugh and the world laughs with you.

Cry and you cry alone.

Beautiful poem but considering the source we knew it had to be!

Lionslamb,

Just a thought but something to consider. We are yet a small group.
Before too long we will be a much larger group.
Forums may not need a lot of looking after right now but,
in the future someone will need to make decisions concerning each forum.

The poetry forum is an artsy type of forum and therefore might require a
fine line of reasoning in certain situations...when is good poetry offensive?
what subtle inferences are ther in a string of posts the go beyond art form.

I suppose I could go on and on but I would rather present a question that
need not be answered until one is comfortable with the answer.
Have you or will you possible give some thought to becoming a
moderator of this poetry forum?

DeeDee and Cocoa_butter are spread thin over the forums.
There are several more forums to open still.
I have spoken to both DeeDee and Cocoa_butter about this possibility.

I'm aware that this is not the most private place to ask but we are family!

Hi Valius, nothing wrong with asking, & thank you for the honour and vote of confidence, but at this stage I would prefr not to. I never get on during the day, due to family comitments, (Mum is getting elderly & if I am not up at her place she likes me on call always). When I do get on at night it is for a maximum of 4 hours, but usually less, & I try to get evrything caught up in this time.
Also I am not keen to judge what might be considered offensive to others, possibly these poems of mine may offend some, (I gather from Cocoa's 'umm, yeah' above she is not enamoured of these sentiments) and I am not in a strong place just now to be judging anyone.
Sorry if this lets you down, but I do appreciate the trust placed in the offer / request :oops: :oops:

The offer will remain open...

You are right...your poetry does offend at least one! It offends the devil greatly to see you honor the lord.

It's like he, the devil, has to walk right down Broadway, formerly known as Breedway when the Dutch had it, and see the name of God up in lights. Can you image him, the devil, wishing he could see his own name up in lights. Oh that jealousy and pride lead him down the path of no return...and there you are praising the Lord, his enemy! Yes it is sometimes hard to discern who we might offend.

I learned a long time ago that as we live and even breathe, we must offend someone and then we can speak!

Hi Cocoa, I should have answered this before, but I think we have it all sorted out, I just didn't want this thread hanging like this. I am glad we were able to hug & sort things out. I am sorry I was over sensitive, I do tend to be, & I was more sensitive too as darling Gemma (my dog) was fading fast & I was helpless. Thank you for your tolerance & all your work on site, blessings Lamby
